Kochville Chit-Chat
  • Did you know that Zilwaukee International Studies School (commonly known to most of us as simply Zilwaukee School) has a new principal?  Her name is Tina Munoz, and she's a real go-getter.  She's got great things planned for our school and our community.  Let's give her a big, warm welcome, and wish her success!

  • SVSU Football is back!  Home game coming up Saturday, Sept. 18th, 12:00-3:00pm.  It's a great way to spend the afternoon, and it's right in our neighborhood.  Good family fun!

  • I hear there's a new apple orchard in Kochville--Apple Valley Orchard, owned and operated by Reverend Al Sprunger.  It's located on Davis Rd., at the corner of Liberty, and offers lots of delicious goodies for fall.  Check out their website and plan to visit them soon.

  • On Sunday, Sept. 19th, Bishop Cistone will be celebrating 11:00am Mass at St. Matthew's Church in Zilwaukee.  St. Matthew Parish is eagerly preparing for this special event.

  • Tractor Supply will host a "Pet Vaccination & Heartworm Clinic" on Oct. 16th, from 1:30-3:30pm.  It's a convenient and affordable way to get your pets' shots updated.  Vaccinations provided by VetMed, Don Sheets DMV and associates.  Click here for flyer.

  • I attended the City of Saginaw's Grand Opening of their new Mershon-Whittier Splash Park (formerly Andersen Water Park), and featured a preview of the new skate park, now in it's final phases of construction.  This new skate park is quite impressive--word has it that a crew from California came out to finish the concrete.  And the kids turned out full force that day to check out the new sculptured skating arena and practice their skills--skates, skate boards and bikes are all accommodated at the new park.  Click here for pictures.

  • The SVSU Campus is abuzz with returning students.  A drive down Pierce Rd. says it all:  joggers, skateboarders, kids playing in the grass at the Cardinal Apartments, the SVSU townhouse parking lots are full of cars...it won't be long before we hear the marching band on Saturday mornings...What a great way to enter Fall!

  • 8-22-10  It won't be long before the SVSU campus will once again be teeming with activity.  Welcome back students--it's always a pleasure!

  • 08-08-10  Sad to say that the Balloon Fest did not get the turn-out that was hoped for.  Talk was that only two out of the ten hot air balloons showed up (probably as a result of the weather--hot air balloons need a very calm day to fly), and the crowd was sparse.  Hopefully, better luck next year...

  • 08-06-10  The Bay City Labadie Pig Gig was great fun last night, featuring the band, "Toys In The Attic", playing some good old rock and roll with a tribute to Areosmith.  The Saginaw Chamber of Commerce, Covenant, and Dow, along with many others, sponsored the evening's festivities.  Great ribs, good crowd, kids' activities, lots of vendors, beer tent, and live entertainment all weekend long...be sure to check it out for great food and family fun.

  • 08-05-10  This weekend is Kochville's summer celebration, with the softball tournament and hot air balloons--be sure to stop in and have some fun.  Located in the fields behind the Kochville Township Hall.
